for the Component Footer
One of the best things about getting out and sharing our audio hobby is that you get to meet some great guys. I have really enjoyed the last two years of MuzicMike's Ribfest in Southern Pennsylvania.
This year I won one of the door prizes.
I received an Email from Earl Thomas who I believe I met at Ribfest 2009. He let me know that his component footers were reasonably priced and deal with resonance conduction on both sides of the footer. While I got this set of four footers free I would be happy to pay for these without hesitation.
In my apartment, I seem to do the best with adjustable points. However there is resonance in my building and sometimes you just need a little compliance to get the right combination of soundstage, timbral accuracy and focus.
That's what I like about these component footers. They give you the focus of a adjustable point system and the deep dark background of a well thought out resonance trap.
They start off with a .980 inch Black Lamplite ball. I suspect its pretty hard stuff and the big ball gives a nice gentle contact patch to whatever you decide to place on it.
Then comes a compliant pad of 80 durometer synthetic rubber located inside a 1 inch hole drilled into the oak block. Then the block sits on some Deflex and you have a compliant, well tuned footer that doesn't break the bank.
I am really picky about sonics and I love a well focused sound stage. The component footers work as advertised.
I thought I would give a shout out about these footers for those wondering if their Technics tables might sound better with different footers. These are definitely in a price range where you cannot go wrong. If they don't improve the Technics try it on a CDP or other piece in your system.
I have been using these now for 6 months. I go back and forth with my various footers and these EconoTweak's footers keep a great balance between silence and focus.
Earl Thomas is a gentleman and one of the good guys here at the asylum. You are likely to enjoy these footers if you have a room with resonance issues.
Product Weakness: They forego the Ferrari look for being basic and functional. Product Strengths: For the price you are getting a product that does what it claims.
