Re: But don't the sonics suck?

I have heard something like six different pressings of this one. One of the two that I didn't dispose of promptly was the one that I bought about 20 seconds or so after the LP hit the shelves (yellow label). It is a wee bit noisy between tracks but the sonics are very good. Big and ballsy throughout and a very deep soundstage. The other is an orange label that I bought maybe a year or so later and it is nearly as good. The others were as you mentioned. I either got lucky, or a very early issue is a must (which is often the case, of course). I'll postulate that so many of these were printed after the smash that "Frankenstein" became, and later copies were pressed poorly in a rush to market. Also, remember its vintage and the whole story of oil-crisis vinyl.
