Jack,Your acquaintance in Dallas wouldn't happen to be Albert would it? I've had many enjoyable conversations with him via email.
One minor correction, if I may. Not to take anything away from the Mapleknoll Airaidne Signature, which is a beautiful turntable in its own right, but Lloyd will quickly say (as he's said to me) that the Mapleknoll was not a predecessor to the Walker. Your second statement is probably closer to the mark - it set a conceptual design base for the Proscenium. Lloyd owned a Mapleknoll at one time, he completely rebuilt one of the early models to show Mapleknoll what might be possible with their design, he was the distributor for them for a while, and he did some design consulting. But the Walker Proscenium is a totally different from-the-ground-up design.
I agree that a comparison of the Walker to the Rockport would be an interesting exercise. But, I suspect that, given the mass of each of these turntables, its not likely that someone will get them both into the same system at the same time to make that direct comparison.
Best regards,
