I own a 1219 that was suffering that and some other problems, and our local "stereo repair" shop wouldn't / didn't want to mess with it. I did some internet research and located Joel Thorner operating "the turntable factory" out of his home in Columbia SC. I talked to him, and took my rig to him for a total overhaul. He is a true craftsman for old turntables, Duals in particular. What I've gleaned from talking to him and watching him totally disassemble and rebuild mine is that they respond real well to this treatment. I'm not shilling for him, just a very happy customer. For any Dual owners out there, worrying about keeping your rigs operating, check him out. Check out his site at www.theturntablefactory.com, there's lots of good info there.
