Hi there - I used a Denon 103-D from 1978-1983. It was an outstanding cartridge. Tracked Dave Grusin's "Eye on the sparrow" at 1.7 grams (try that with pretty much any other MC cartridge!). I currently have a Linn Asaka which has may of the qualities of the Denon. I heard a Denon 103 (spherical) and 103-S ("Shibata")at the time I bought the 103D (Audible Excellence in San Francisco). Frankly the the 103 wasn't in the same league - VERY rough top end!. The 103S was comparable but the 103-D was a touch better and cheaper.Sounds like they may have reworked the spherical 103 since then. The are very difficult to tightly attache to your arm (if you tighten the mounting nut too much they just pop off the side of the cartridge!).
