Friday night spin ruined Yes MOFI Ultra-disc defect

Arrrgghhhhhh....after a week of hell at work and long commutes, was looking forward to play my brand new Yes Fragile in high speed 45 RPM ala Ultra-disc. Opened it up, after warming the tubes on the Big Macs and the rest of the tube support system, and dropped the needle and was in bliss at first....then reached the end of the first side with Rounadbout ending but the last crescendo kicked out the needle, WTF! Lifted the arm to see if their was issues with antiskate, nada, dirty needle, nada, or hair from dog, also nada. Dropped the needle around the same area and it did it again, and I could see the arm violently being kicked out of the groove, despite no major defects noticed on the record. I lifted the arm and touched the record as it was spinning and felt a touch of a rise on that segment,, hmmmm. Turned the record over to check the other side and no issues, it's the first side towards the end of the record, it's kaput! Frustrating.

Now, I am spinning Al Dimeola Saturday Night in San Francisco and Elegant Gypsy to ease my mind, it's working. Now I have to contemplate how to do a return for an out of production item, 😳
