not so much for TT isolation but because rear wall reflections pushed vocals, some woodwinds, massed strings to where it was like needles driven into my ears. It didn't help that the gear I was using was way too bright for the room either.
So here's my solution:
Ugly and inelegant but effective. Those are Roxul sound absorbing panels. My woodworking skills are pathetic, I'm amazed I didn't ruin what I had, so it ain't pretty but the difference was apparent from the first grooves I spun afterwards.
The panels can also work as bass traps.
The turntables are also on isolation devices. The Dual 1209 is on a cutting board with Vibrapods under it. The 1019 is up on blocks of thick cork sandwiched between sound absorbing rubber. Speakers are Maggie MMGs, positioned about halfway between the front and rear walls.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
