Back Wall Reflections

I have always wondered what the sonic impact of back wall reflections would be upon the cartridge and if there is an audible negative impact to the sound.

I have a VPI extended Aries with a Shelter 501 II cartridge. The deck has Mapleshade brass feet and I have it sitting upon a 3 inch thick block of maple and the head shell is 12-15 inches from the back wall.

So is this a case of audiophile nervosa or are there meaningful tweaks I could try that could improve the sound?
