The unit i purchased was a return to Music Direct ( i originally said Audio Direct by mistake ). They had special ordered it for a customer. The unit came in, they demo'd a few discs for him, he agreed that there was a difference and then he took it home. After having it for appr. one week, he returned the unit. He claimed that he couldn't hear a difference in several before and after tests. Bes conducted another test at Music Direct for the customer and he once again agreed that there was a noticeable difference. His comment was that he could hear the differences there, but not on his system at home.

Whether his system at home is not capable of a reasonalbe amount of resolution or if he simply cut all the discs he had at the time and then returned the unit is something only he knows. Either way, his decision ended up giving me the opportunity to check this unit out and save a good chunk of money on it.

While i'm sure that you've tried it out more than a few times, i would suggest cutting a disc that you think sounds kind of muddy or "less than sharp" sounding. Another good candidate would be something with a slightly jumbled soundstage where the instruments and vocals lack seperation. Then listen to it again. If you notice nothing beneficial from cutting the disc, it's probably time to give it a new home. Sean
