I wholehearedly agree with your assessment of this fine tweak. Some things to consider when using your lathe:(1) If you leave the hold down screw on too loose and bring the blade into contact with the disc rapidly you will take a chunk out of the edge of the disc.(cost me a Dave Alvin disc to learn).(2) If you don't pay attention when applying the felt tipped marker to the trimmed edge you can slip up onto the disc, making that section of the disc unplayable.(has ruined the end of a couple long playing albums).(3) When finished trimming the disc's edge, while the lathe is still spinning rapidly, I use 300 grit sandpaper on the edge. It takes what little roughness the lathe left behind and the ink from the marker seems to go on easier.(4) Apply the felt tipped marker to the spindle hole of the disc.(2 applies to this tweak also).
