Thank you for replying to my post. I tried to go to your web page but it will not come up for me. I did not know that you were using caps on the output. These caps will look like a AC short to ground over their operating frequency range and shunt the spike/noise to ground. It is this action that causes the spike to not re-enter the other side of the choke and thus sets up the other voltage in the other winding of the choke. The choke now acts like a transformer with a pri. and sec. winding. Thinking of the choke that way, the pri and sec are realy in series, and a transformer hooked up that way is no longer a transformer but two inductors in series with a common core!
Think about that for a while.

So if the cap to ground, looks like ground on the side of it that is connected to the output of the choke it will short the spike to ground and there will be no voltage there to add to the other coils voltage to make up the double voltage that I have been asking about. The very effect that causes the other voltage to be induced in the other coil kills the original spike voltage, so that it cannot add to form a double.
