My experience is that any spikes and differential noise is not so audible and rather harmless. RFI must be the key to the audible difference the filter makes. The music is not so much free of audible noise, or ticking, pops etc. It sounds just completely different. The timbre and geometry of soundstage changes. So I assume that I do not want to filter the AC to be pure of harmonics, and occasional spikes. The power supply can probably feed happily on distorted AC and use the energy by charging the PS caps. The RFI enters the whole electronics and does something we hear as ugly sound.
I am telling you, that the modified filter does everything the original does so well, plus it sounds more fast, dynamic, open, breathing, etc.
I havent tried all possible cores and techniques. I just try to share what I already found. Other people who tried it as well confirm my opinion.
We can agree, that any one of the designs vastly improves any system, be it NAD or BAT.
