Both terminals carry the voltage/amperage that makes the voice coil move. Neither one is more important; you need both to complete the circuit.
As we're dealing with alternating current, for the positive phase of the waveform, the current will travel in, say, a clockwise direction from the amplifier, through the speaker voice-coil, pushing the driver forward, and back to the amp. For the negative phase, the current flow is reversed, which pulls the driver inward.
If you interrupt the circuit anywhere, no current flows.
