Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: What is the interaction of the loudspeaker and amplifier?

The black terminal is normally ground or neutral. It completes the circuit. In order for the speaker to produce sound, you need to connect both red and black terminals to the corresponding speakers terminals. Even though the red terminal contains the alternating electrical signal, it won't do anything without the black ground terminal connected. You have to complete the circuit.
