RE: REVIEW: REL Acoustics Stentor III Speakers

I have a very good experience with Spendor SP100/REL Studio combo years ago, for sure I'm correct on the REL model this time. It's very musical and recreate a BIG SOUND!! I remembered the REL is feeding through high level input from the power amplifier which driving the SP100.

I'm no longer a big fans of ported subwoofer even though I still have a ported subwoofer called D-BOX Mammouth that has 18" electromagnetic driver with Onken type enclosure. Very entertaining and absolute fun to listen to.

However, I think the acoustic suspension is more faithful to the music after owning the Dr. Floyd E. Toole designed Infinity Prelude MTS over a decade. Last couple years, I've listened to both Gallo Reference 5LS and Genesis 1.2, I can conclude that the sealed box or dipole/bipolar combo are the way to go for absolute music recreation.

As a pianist, sealed box playing both hands with correct timing and pacing. But not the ported sub, I always found one hand slower than the other for most piano recording.

Finally, I found the REL subwoofer really sound great with some traditional sounding British loudspeakers.
