Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Yep. Still one of the best "conventional" speakers

Jim Thiel hit a home run on this model and he knows it. It is the only speaker in the whole lineup that hasn't been revamped 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years. I first heard this speaker at its introduction (unwittingly then as I was a newbie) at Chicago CES 1993. It sounded phenomenal there with ML reference components. Much later (2000) I heard them at a hifi shop paired with bridged BAT VK 60s. Simply beautiful. Finally, a colleague of mine has a hifi shop and carries Thiel. There paired with a Theta Dreadnaught again the unbelieveable accuracy of these speakers struck me. Anyone who bashes this classic hasn't heard it properly or needs their ears examined. It is one of the very few speakers I have heard that actually stuns me when I hear it again after some time.
