RE: audiomagus

This is a follow-up to my last posting about my bad experience with AudioMagus. It seems like disputing the credit card charge finally spurred AudioMagus into action. I finally received a replacement Trends 10.1 amplifier. I checked the tracking number, and it wasn't shipped until after I'd disputed the charge, which was well after they'd said they would send it.

It was kind of weird actually, because it just showed up, and they still haven't replied to my E-mails, and they still aren't picking up the phone.

And of course, in true AudioMagus fashion, this one is broken too. At least this appears clean and new, and was in an actual box, with an actual manual, unlike the first one. However, one of the RCA inputs is missing part of the internal conductor, and no RCA plug will stay plugged into it. I can get a plug to stay sitting there long enough for me to test out the amp, if I am careful and don't touch it after I get a signal. So I was able to confirm that the amplifier does in fact work. So what I have decided is that I can replace the RCA socket myself. It should be a simple job to desolder it and swap it with a good one. So I am going to keep the amplifier.

I am disappointed that they didn't do even the simplest quality check before sending this one out, given my experience with the quality of the first one. If they didn't bother trying to plug an RCA input in, there's no way they could have checked to see if the amp worked.

I have to say also, I am a little dissapointed with the Trends 10.1 amp sound, by the way. It sounds good, but nowhere near as good as the 6moons or other reviews have made it out to be. It sounds fine. Nothing special. Certainly not worth 3 months of hassle to acquire. I have an old Yamaha amplifier, for example, that I got off Craigslist for 50 bucks, which sounds just as good.

So I contacted my credit card company and told them to cancel the dispute, and that they can reauthorize the card. Audiomagus should be thankful that I'm so honest, because I haven't heard a word from them asking me to do so.

They did not send me a return shipping label for the original amplifier, which they had promised to do. So now I still don't know if they want the original amplifier back. They are probably too disorganized to care. I guess I am still going to send it back at my own cost, just to protect myself.

In summary, maybe Audiomagus isn't the complete scam that it seemed they were. But they are certainly not worth dealing with. They still aren't answering their phone or their E-mail and even if they do, they'll tell you a whole lot of lies for a long time. Yes, I finally got my amplifier and have come to a resolution on this issue. But it's just been too much hassle. I recommend against buying from them.
