RE: PC + Asynchronous USB DAC Question

One can use the default Windows USB driver for asynchronous operation and still use applications, such as cPlay, that require ASIO interfaces. One just uses a shim program such as ASIO4all that will allow the application to access the Windows async USB driver.

With one more software component there will be additional ways to misconfigure the audio stack and thereby get inferior sound. However, if each portion is set up correctly the results can be bit-perfect. Whether this approach will sound better than an alternative software approach that eschews the async USB capability will depend on the particular system and will have to be ascertained by listening.
