A single space would work for me.I don't know that 2 spaces is "traditional". Some use it, some don't. It's probably a "typewriter" thing, rather than a book publishing convention. Proportional fonts obviate the need, and sophisticated word processors will fiddle the spaces anyway. I personally do not use the two spaces in Microsoft Word or FrameMaker - and don't like to see it done.
However, when posting on AA, the HTML engine will strip off those extra spaces you have so carefully added. Standard browser practice. Try it and you will see.
