Apogee Scintilla Fatigue

I have 1 or 4 Ohm Apogee Scintillas currently wired for 1 ohm. I'm experiencing serious fatigue like I've never experienced before (also currently own Maggie MG-3A, Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1, Thiel CS-2.3, have owned Infinity IRS Beta, Infinity Kappa 9, Yamaha NS-1000M, Maggie MG-3.6R). This happens even at relatively low levels of around 80db. Instead of wanting to turn the volume up, I constantly want to turn it down.

My system consists of Threshold S500/II, switching between Spectral DMC-6 and Classe Five preamps. Source material is Qobuz via Moon 280D DAC/streamer. Speaker cables are Velocity 12 AWG OFC, biwired.

Jon Soderberg, who used to work at Threshold told me that amp was designed to work with 1 ohm loads. But a few times it has blown a negative rail fuse but not during use, in between listening sessions. He thinks it may be oscillating.

I wanted to try a different amp first to see if that fixes the listening fatigue, probably the H2O S250 Signature. But before I spend another $2K, I thought about trying the speakers in 4 ohm mode. I can't find any info on how to do that.

Can anyone offer any advice?
