I think you are right.

When I rebuilt my SMGas, I would run low frequency test tones through them to check for buzzes etc. If I pushed them too hard, wires would lift off the mylar. It seemed as if though thermal expansion of the wire was what was causing the seperation.
Comcast reliability is an oxymoron!
