I almost lost one of my pets last night. Parakeet stuck on mouse trap glue thingy

I KNEW i should not have left it anywhere.. but.
Anyway the parakeets were flying around playing and one got knocked sideway and fell into behind the sofa. I FROZE as I knew that trap was back there.
I pulled him out and yeah he was stuck on the glue trap. Feet, beak, wing and tail.
I slid some fingers under him to keep him from getting more stuck. The biggest threat was to his eyes, so i started there prying him off, praying he could take the stress (and me not break his neck) I got his beak off with only the loss of a few neck feathers, then i started on his claws. One was easy, the other i worried i would break his foot, but i had to pull it off.
Finally I had my hand fully between him and the sticky except for tail and one wing.
I just cut the feathers to keep from taking too long and him freaking out and managing to get more stuck.
I cried, I was so relieved i did not hurt him. He looks like a mess with a bald spot on his neck, and one wing clipped some, and the tail half gone. But all that can grow back.
Strange the other parakeet started right in on him attacking him. I had to separate them.
Today they are playing OK again, and my injured guy is flying fine too.
And i learned not to have those traps (landlord gave them to me for mice)

I could just kick myself for leaving that trap around. I have to just buy some bait type box traps instead. (though with Summer coming the mice will leave anyway)
