No one did anything to the E140. JBL had reversed relative phase
on all thier loudspeakers and compression drivers until sometime
in the 90's
You can go to JBL pro site and they have white papers written up
on the issue
I have ran into plenty of people that had no idea or clue that JBL
put this into their design
