RE: "spotlight the piano in the center of the mix" is unfortunate

Nearly all of my many piano concerto recordings present the piano sound mostly to the left of center with, on the best recordings, bass notes deeper in the soundstage, treble farther forward, just as happens in the concert hall. Two channel only. Of course, just as happens with Steinway-in-living-room, the high treble keys take prominence in subjective loudness.

If orchestral presentation is two-dimensional with perhaps only Tympani giving any depth to the soundstage and one range of frequencies beaming, you need to look to your room.
