As a mainly classical listener, I like speed and clarity in a system

I'm looking for a "quick" sound - perhaps this is a result of my imprint exposure to my dad's system which had JBL speakers (which had also been recommended by my piano teacher at the time). JBL speakers were of course part of the "west coast" sound, a sound supposedly more suitable for rock music, but I've always found this type of sound ideal for classical too. Later on, I found an even quicker sound via electrostatics (at the cost of a slight reduction in dynamic range). My current system features ribbon mids and tweeters in the main (FR and FL) speakers - the best of both worlds perhaps (?), but, at the same time, I have a roving ear geared toward the baffleless designs of the Spatial Audio models too. These days, I want the sound to escape from the confines of the speakers, which is why I'm so into MCh listening, or, even more, Dolby Atmos and other "immersive" platforms.

As for analog vs. digital, I'm firmly on the side of digital, having dumped my 3,000 or so LP's back in the mid-80's when "perfect sound forever" came out on CD. Of course, it wasn't QUITE perfect (per the advertising slogan), so I've been enthusiastic about higher rez digital, with a preference for PCM (up to DXD) over DSD (although DSD256 sounds great, managing to escape the "softness" of regular DSD64).

Hmm, that was a longer answer than I expected when I started - and maybe a longer answer than you wanted! ;-)
