Do your music preferences affect you sound character preference?

Let's face it: people's preferences for sound character differ.

  • Some people prefer a warmer, fuller, or say more "organic", "fluid", or simply "musical" sound, while ...
  • Other folks prefer more detailed, resolved, "transparent", and crisply dynamic sound.

Do you suspect any correlation better one's music preference and one or the other of these sound characteristic categories? Do you think that folks who listen mainly to say, Rock, have a different preference to those who like Classical?

Or, assuming you have the privilege to listen two or more systems differing in sound characteristic, do you opt to listen to one vs. the depending on the music?
