Re: Becuase....

I think you have Walker Audio's motivations all wrong. I keep copies of all my old dealer price sheets around in my folders of product info in my files. The first price sheet (dated 3/4/02) I got from Walker Audio that lists the Vivid treatment indicates the retail price of it is $60. The price I paid for my first batch of Vivid kits I bought back then was based on this retail price. I know Lloyd fairly well, and he is not the type to jack up prices becuase of a good review. He changed the packaging of the kit (which added cost) and added lint free cleaning cloths instead of paper towels (which added cost), so the price went up. It is that simple.

Where I made my mistake on my posting yesterday was that I failed to point out the price quoted in Sarjan's review is based on a ball park number that Lloyd quoted him (as pointed out to me by Lloyd, I'm sure we can ask Sarjan to verify this). Lloyd Walker's mistake is not firming up the packaging and pricing of a product before sending it off for review (and then changing packaging and pricing once dealers have some product in stock - I still have a few of the older $60 retail kits in inventory). This is not the first time this has happened in this industry.

Happy listening,
Rich Brkich
