Its not weird that the Focusrite sounds great, its good gear and the competition in that market tends to have great sounding products for cheap. Money isn't always indicative of performance.
Though it is surprising that the Gustard doesn't sound good at high volumes. How is the Gustard connected? USB like the Focusrite?
