Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Perhaps this is your calling in Life ... Maybe you should become a manufacturer or chassis designer?

Think about it, you could offer your expertise to manufacturers such as Transistor Research Labs.

From talking to TRL, I think they were trying to keep the price down, so that the average audiophile could have an opportunity to own an integrated with exceptional sound. (They do have an amplifier for $140K if you want beauty and reference sound, the GTRP-800).

To be honest, there are great looking pieces of gear out there that sound like Hell, and I'm talking about amps that sell for 5 to 6 times what this superior (sonically) integrated does. I can give you a list, however, if you have had any time in the hobby, you won't require me to.

I like the looks of the ST-225. You don't. Others may not either, I don't care. I know what you are missing, though ... and the music and sound are why I'm into this hobby. :)

If you can force yourself to get past the looks, perhaps you can experience what has me so excited. Or you can "bench race" and dismiss it entirely on its look. I think that you owe it to yourself to actually hear one first. You know what they say about first hand experience ...

Best,

Jack Seaton
