No, it doesn't have the "warmth" of many tube preamps I've heard. Then again, I find tube gear to vary a lot more between equipment then solid state gear. In the context of my system, however, I can't say for certain, as I've only used the Sonic Frontiers Line 1 as a preamplifier.Sorry, I just can't make an A/B comparison because in my system B doesn't exist :)
