Kevin,Thanks for the reply! I have read the manual online and I believe my understanding of the separate function is correct based on what the manual says. The TAPE function is a little more vague in the manual however. I'm not sure it is actually describing a tape monitor loop. It states "In the TAPE position, the preamp will process the TAPE INPUT signal over-riding the INPUT SELECTOR". This sounds like a traditional tape monitor loop, but the manual never actually states that the source selected by the input selector is still presented at the tape outs. I would have to believe that it is however, which would allow you to monitor the recording (or insert an equalizer or processor in the loop which is what I want). The nearest Classe dealer is 70 miles away and I would hate to travel there just to find out it doesn't meet my requirements. I might try emailing Classe customer service.
Thx again
Jeff
