I am rather please to read that your eci is working fine. As I mentionne in my small review I will never know if this eci3 was defective or if it was the normal song. The eci3 i Had own was, as I wrote, compare at home with 3 differents amps: Nemo, Sansui and Quad 405 ( my previus one) , All theses amps was having similar tonal balance, even if they were differents in quality and result. The Eci3 was totaly differents.
It is possible that this model was faulty, But it is shure that the eci3 I had was not a good amplifier, and that electrocompaniet did not whant to take care of this case.
Just a simple question: do you have sound in your speaker when you turn volume to minimal. Mine was doing this and I am still having the mail of Electrocompaniet telling it is normal..
It may also be possible that electrocompaniet did some job in new unit. The one I had was not having cd input in rca connector, and there was a note telling not to use xlr to rca adpator. do you have the previus model with cd input in rca connection ?
