My initial thoughts are... if you use your system more for HT than music, you just have to give these an audition. You, your partner, your HT system and your wallet will greatly appreciate the accomplishment Magnepan has achieved with the MMG-W's.

Should the more expensive Magnepan speakers sound better, YES! If not I would imagine there would be a group of Magnepan dealers at the factory door to do physical harm to them! We personally are going with the MGMC1's for better stereo sound in one application, but it's going to cost us $750 per pair vs $300 per pair.
I believe, we should compare the MMG-W's with other speakers in their price range. I can't imagine a better bargain than what Magnepan has accomplished, $300 per pair for all of that sound!
I would imagine, that a person that owns more expensive Magnepan speakers that listens to the W's would pretty much go through the same reverse technology thing you go through, when watching HDTV all day and then going back to standard TV. You are just use to better quality.
Let's look at it this way, Lexus makes many cars, they have the top of the line LS430, and the entree level ES330. Both of these cars are a better than most, can they basically do the same thing, yes. Does the more expensive LS 430 do everything better, yes. BUT there is a dear price to pay. Same with high end speakers, going up the quality ladder price points you pay for those changes and the higher you go on that ladder the more you pay for subtle improvements!
In our situation "we will not live around our system" anymore! So, we looked at speakers that would fit into our decor. I believe that is the way it's going to be for many people. When we started (many months ago) we never thought we would get this high quality sound from on the wall speakers let alone at this price point.
I see the sales figures for "high end" stereo systems have dropped like a rock over the years. I read, the sales of after market car sound systems out pace the sales of home stereo systems (not HT). Dear God, most cars come with a sound system. I think Magnepan is on to something big with the "hookem on the maggie sound and then move them up the "brand loyalty" ladder business plan"!
