Hi,
A quick way to approximate the effective length of a tonearm is to measure the distance from the pivot point to a point midway between the centers of the two headshell slots and then to add a delta of approximately 8.7mm for a 9 inch tonearm and approximately 9.0mm for a 12 inch tonearm.
The delta to be added allows for the fact that a typical cartridge has a distance of 9.5mm from a point directly between the mounting holes to the stylus tip; and the value is a little less than 9.5mm to allow for the offset of the headshell.
Best regards,
BK
