RE: Yamaha MC705 stylus replacement

This isn't really a Yamaha cart, it is made by Audio Technica, who made a few different series of MC cartridges with replacable styli in the early to mid 80's, I believe. MC-705 was the OEM cartridge on the PX-3 linear tracker, and it is actually quite a nice cartridge.

If you remove the stylus, the structure looks very much like an Audio Technica MM stylus, but instead of two tiny magnets at the cartridge end of the cantilever, there are two tiny coils.

The ATN3200, 3100, and similar styli from Audio Technica replace the styli in the MC-705. If you look at Ed's Cartridge Database, there is an entry for the MC-705 that details this.
