airtime:a Creek A50i/iR review from Hi-Fi Choice !

Hey airtime, Britain's June 2003 issue(242) of Hi-Fi Choice describes the new Creek A50i/iR as "a reworking of the popular 4330SE", with 50 MOSFET watts compared to its predecessor's 40. Four line inputs, unless you opt for vinyl; then it's three. Still minimalist in nature. No tone controls, no channel balance, no loudness, or home cinema direct bypass button. No headphone jack either, although an add-on headphone amp, badged OBH21, is available. If you favour classical, this Creek aint that one. But if you dig a wide range of rhythmic stimulation from the likes of Gorillaz, Buena Vista Social Club, Datsuns, or Stan Getz(amongst others), "you find yourself playing everything with a big smile on your face. This is not the most analytical of amplifiers-you get the distinct impression that the Creek is somehow bored or disinterested in frilly or fluffy detail. The sort of amp that would pour scorn on the 'genteely nodding and politely following along with the libretto' sort of presentation pursued by amplifiers of a more reserved nature".
