I've got this eerie "Deja Vu all over again" feeling here....No, 6L6 is very different from 7591. The pinout and voltages ratings are quite different. The 6L6 is a beam tetrode, the 7591 is a pentode. The only true equivalent to 7591 (a FANTASTIC tube in its' Westinghouse 1960s original version) is the novar-base, equally spectacular, 7868. E-H has introduced a true 7591. The original 7591 is one of the rarest power tubes due to its' late introduction in the autumn of mass-produced vacuum tubes and tube gear.... also it never saw service in regulated power supplies, shaker table amps, laboratory bench amps and commercial audio amps like the 6L6, 6550 and to a lesser extent EL34 did, so there simply are not vast stockpiles of them that were purchased by institutions like universities and military organizations which were lift unplundered until the early 1980s vacuum tube renaissance. It is extremely popular with Asian audiophiles.
