1627SE sounds good to me.

Take a look at:

That's a 1627SE in my KT88 SE-UL. (~12Watts)
Sounds good to me. Lots of bass. Good highs and mids. Since I can only compare it to push-pull such as my Dynaco MKiii's all I can say is that I like it better for low to mid level listening. The MKiii's have more power and punch but they really can't keep up in terms of detail and more "life like" music. (Push-Pull vs SE??)

Since the Hammond has an isolated 4ohm tap and I'm using it at about 1/2 power I opted to use the isolated secondary as cathode feedback for the power stage. I think that it really improved the overall sound.

Just my 2 cents.

Pete.
