I've never listened to them, but if they sound decent to your ears (and the student's) they're indeed a bargain for what you paid for them. A 1989 Audio Equipment Directory comes up with the following information:

Frequency response: 30-40k (not spec'd within the general +/-3db range)
Efficiency: 88 dbl@1watt/meter
Crossover: 2k (no slope given)
Nominal Impedance: 6 ohms
MSLP: $250.00 each
