Info on Pioneer S-T100 speakers?

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Trying to help a young college fella who wants to put together a stereo system this summer with limited funds. I found these at a thrift along with a Technics receiver. $40 total for speakers and receiver. I think they'll be worth his $40 investment, but searching archives, even google, hasn't turned up much info on the speakers, i.e., year, quality, performance, efficiency, etc. The ID plates on the cabinets say Model S-T100, 135W max, 35W, 6ohm. I think they actually sound decent. Spikes would probably help bass detail and openness. Appreciate any info you all have.
