I read this banter about who is right or wrong , except this is the classic old school philosophy the "customer is always wrong" .
Today in a consumer centric market this is a wrong philosophy , whether the customer is a somewhat technical aware or just a little old lady.

I work in the auto business and the type of repair was outlawed years ago . In california
a written quote is given , flat rates advertised for different level of labor / repair.
Before market regulation people would roll out of a shop at times with a final price 100%+
higher than verbalized before the repair.
It's just out of common sense to be consumer friendly.

I like for example my Magnum Etude ft101a . Dynalab quotes $150 fine align the tuner stages after soldering in a new tuning 'pot' for $30 . One man does it all. And from the beginning of the conversation they are helpful with saving money on the shipping , this is consumer friendly , not three bulbs soldered for $ 210.
You don't have to take my word for it , below is the contact info for Dynalabs , and compare this to a three bulb repair.


I complained for years we as consumers need a regulatory agency for the green market that's emerging , just like the B.A.R. (bureau of auto repair), to avoid this three bulb rip-off.

More and more people want a green option , keeping dumpsters clear of quality equipment
and an industry standards agency can keep the dump sites , dumpsters , clean of pollution
and consumers willing to spend money on properly priced repairs.
