Color Me Badd, "All 4 Love"

Yeah, when 1992 started, grunge had already taken over. But there was still time for an Oklahoman boy band, Color Me Badd, to knock off Michael Jackson's "Black Or White," for the #1 song in America. CMB's "All 4 Love" was a major high school and college dance hit. Since I was at UC Santa Cruz, all those wannabe hippies hated it. But the urban girls loved it. Excellent.

For us audiophiles, each month, we'd see another cable or DAC review. Thankfully, the "golden ear" SA who straight-jacketed himself to the sweet spot was put out to pasture. Times were good. With so much popular music to choose from, it was about shakin' your rump, jumpin' and humpin' around, and lovin' your smile. Yes, those were all early-90s references. And if you were stylin' like 90210, you flapped your wings and chicken scratched to "All 4 Love." Excellent.

See, here's the deal. SAs, by definition, don't know about pop culture entries, like CMB. So when you play something like "All 4 Love," the SAs do not have any additional hang-ups, and you can get a small handful of them to vacate the sweet spot, flap like chickens and turkeys, and march like they're practicing cross-overs. Excellent.

And when it's time to say good-bye to the SAs, you can rejoin the moms, who still like and dance to "All 4 Love." 'Cept, now there are also 8- and 10-year-olds crowdin' the dance floor. And they dance way better than the adults.

Excellent,
-Lummy The Loch Monster
