I simply followed CT's helpful primer on what I needed:

Pi 3B (for WiFi capability)
HiFi Berry Digi+

And Dynobot filled in a needed gap by providing a source for the DC to MicroUSB connector used between the RPi and the Jameco power supply.

The Quad core Cortex A53 1.2 gHz 64 bit processor found in the 3B is said to be almost ten times faster (depending upon code optimization) than the single core ARM1176 700 mHz 32 bit processor found in the Pi 1. And has twice the memory. Moore's Law in practice.
