That' s odd about the Cary. I know of no other prepro that operates that way. LPCM is LPCM, and it ought to be able to do bass management, speaker distance and any other DSP functions with it, even at 88k.

I am quite happy with the Integra. I am not saying it's the best of the best, but I think it compares favorably to just about anything via the digital inputs. It has a pure DSD mode in which it applies no DSP functions or EQ, converting straight to analog. That does not sound good in Mch, because there is no speaker distance compensation, critical in my setup. But, even in stereo, I think the added bass management and particularly the Audyssey EQ make it sound more natural and lifelike with normal DSP processing.

I have come to think that 88k conversion of DSP might be a compromise. Bit streaming DSD into the Integra sounds much better than 88k from my Oppo, so I expect the internal conversion is done at at a higher resolution, but I have no other concrete evidence of that.
