Yes, the setup appears far from perfect.
But, with a chair pulled up to the area rug (near-field listening) it *might* sound pretty good.
Reach full potential? No. Sound pretty good? Quite possibly.
I've heard many a system that sounded far better than they looked like they should.
That definitely includes mine.
I've heard several high-end systems in "professionally designed and treated rooms" that should have sounded glorious, but instead sucked all the life and joy out of everything played.
I never judge a system until I've heard it.
Just my 2-cents... and worth half what you paid.
