Anyone remember their first amp?

It was the GFA-1, which later became the 1a. I think it was released in something like 1978 or so. Kind of a cute little thing and different in design i.e. four smaller amps internally bridged to make two larger amps*. It was black in colour and a little bigger than the Carver "cube". It would whip the piss out of the Carver though with WAY better sound and power. If i remember correctly, either Stereo Review or High Fidelity tested this thing and it clipped at something like 290 wpc @ 8 ohms. Had a "thermal tunnel" down the middle with venting in the front and rea and was fan cooled too. The fan runs so slow that you can't hear it. Sean

* I've heard of others trying to bridge these amps. Due to the fact that they are already running in bridged mode internally, the end result is instant destruction. Same results happened when dealers tried to use them through those old "audio patch bays" using 1/4" stereo headphone jacks due to having a common ground. BA-BOOM !!!
