Audio Syndrome next meeting January 21st

The Audio Syndrome, a fun audiophile club with members in the New York City and Long Island area are having our next meeting Friday, January 21, 8 PM, at Dennis R's home in Huntington Station, LI. Dennis will demonstrate a BAT VK-220 amplifier. We will also have discussions of the 2005 CES & The Show by members who attended the Las Vegas events.

Past meetings included:
December 2004 - Holiday gathering at Charles R’s home located in Whitestone, Queens.

November 2004 - Jim M's home located in Seaford, LI. At this post-Thanksgiving meeting, Jim hosted a surprise audiophile agenda.

October 2004 - Charles R’s home located in Whitestone, Queens.
At this Meeting, the new, Italian-made Lector 2 piece CD player,
Model CDP-7, was demonstrated along with a powerful
Audio Research tube amp and Pipedreams loudspeakers.

September 2004 - Dennis R's home in Huntington Station, LI. This was a "Welcome Back from Summer" General Meeting & Dennis demonstrated his hi-fidelity system.

June 2004 - Charlie G's in Lindenhurst, LI demonstration of tubes, vinyl & various sonic differences (if any) between a variety of cables.

May 2004 - At Greg P's home in Queens. Greg demonstrated his state of the art, extreme 2-channel system, featuring a variety of high end tube & SS equipment along with his super custom speaker system, featuring 6 Raven tweeters.

April 2004 - At Jim K's home in Bayside, Queens. Jim demonstrated a "surprise CD front end" along with Von Schwikert VR-6 loudspeakers with a custom Audio Note 300B SET amp bi-amped with a Hafler bass amplifier.

March 2004 - Demonstration of a Behringer digital room correction device for Andy D's dedicated large 2 channel Listening Room with Martin Logan Request speakers, an Audio Research tube pre-amp, Golden tube monoblocks, Theta DAC and Oracle vinyl set-up in East Meadow, LI.

February 2004 - Demonstration of Jay L's multichannel & 2-channel systems featured in Home Theatre magazine in Greenlawn, LI.

January 2004 - Demonstration of new Pipedreams loudspeaker system at Charlie R's in Whitestone, Queens.

December 2003 - S&G Custom Sound in Douglaston, Queens. Scott G. demonstrated the benefits of utilizing a Spectrum Analyser for Sonic Room Treatment. This holiday gathering included a $15 grab bag for members as well as holiday food & drinks.

November 2003 - Jim M's home in Seaford, LI. Jim demonstrated the new Battery-powered AudioQuest IC's & speaker cables.

October 2003 - George E's home in Levittown, NY. George demonstrated his classic Klipsch Cornwall loudspeaker system, a Paul Klipsch masterpiece which took a full 6 years to develop. Accompanying gear included John Wiesner custom built 2A3 push-pull triode monoblocks, a John Wiesner Western Electric 437A pre-amp as well as a Sony SACD player.

September 2003 - Albert W's home in Forest Hills, Queens. Albert demonstrated his family's line of audiophile components.

June 2003 - Comparing vinyl vs CD sources at BobM 's home in Massapequa Park, LI. We compared the same album in both formats, to determine which medium sounds best.

May 2003 - Demonstration of Jim K's Von Schwikert VR-6 loudspeakers with a custom Audio Note 300B SET amp bi-amped with a Bryston bass amplifier. Also featuring a custom passive pre-amp with very innovative speaker & IC cables in Bayside, Queens.

April 2003 - Comparison of phono stages at Greg P's home in Bellerose, Queens.

March 2003 - Demonstrated the effects of “Tube Rolling”, changing various amplifer & pre-amplifier tubes (output, driver, rectifier) and determining the sonic effects. John Wiesner 2A3/ 45 SET amps as well as a Loesch & Wiesner 417A all tube phono & linestage preamplifier were demonstrated driven into vintage Klipschorns with SACD/CD and vinyl sources at Triode Pete's home in Massapequa.

February 2003 - A synergystic system was demonstrated including Snell B-minor speakers, matching Sonic Frontiers preamp (SFL-1) & amp (Anthem 2-SE) as well as a Parasound transport & McCormack DAC at Tom M's home in Queens Village, Queens.

January 2003 - The new, efficient Omega single driver speakers were demonstrated by the manufacturer using a variety of amplifiers. Also, the new Reference 3A DeCapo's were demonstrated.

December 2002 - A holiday gathering for club members at Bob M's home in Freeport, Long Island demonstrating the host's DIY 3-way speaker system featuring Focal drivers.

November 2002 - A interesting blind listening test & evaluation of some extremely low-priced hi-fi gear synergistically put together by Jim M in Seaford, Long Island.

October 2002 (Nov 1st) - Comparison of reasonably priced Sim Moon Audio integrated amps as well as a listening comparison of several small English-made loudspeaker models (Spendor, etc.) at Andy D's Home in East Meadow, LI.

Sept 2002 - The new, tubed Shanling CD player was demonstrated, comparing it to both Theta & Phillips gear, courtesy of Roy Hall in Whitestone, NY.

June 2002 - The newly discounted Phillips SACD player was demonstrated, courtesy of Phillips Audio in Whitestone, NY.

May 2002 - One of a kind, custom Omega-Mikro system at Joe M's home in Rosedale, NY. Featuring vinyl & Redbook CD playback.

April 2002 - Vinyl Fest & tubes at Charlie G's home in Lindenhurst, NY. Featuring his VPI Aries with wood Grado Sonata cartridge & Cary phono pre-amp, VTL & CJ amps, as well as other tube gear.

March 2002 - Bedford Studios in Brooklyn, NY with hosts Andy Tommasi (Recording Engineer / Owner) and Ted Goodwin (Mastering Engineer & guitarist). We compared live acoustic guitar with both the analog recording (2",30 ips tape) and digital recording (ProTools software) playback as well as numerous discussions about the recording
industry.

February 2002 - Tubes versus Transistors in Andy D's home in East Meadow, NY. Compared a variety of tube and transistor components (amps & pre-amps) hooked to Alon IV speakers.

January 2002 - Manufacturer (Quantum Products Bill Sterihout) and Magazine (The Absolute Sound's Scot Markwell) demonstration of Quantum's products (Symphony, etc.) as well as demonstaration of some recently reviewed TAS equipment (Alon ribbon speakers & a ASL push-pull 300B amp).
