HowdyI don't want to put words in Max's mouth, but using a single number to describe jitter is exactly like using a single number to describe a note. It doesn't tell you anything about the rest of the spectrum, it certainly doesn't tell you whether the note is a voice or from a piano, etc. Look at the jitter spectrum plots in Stereophile. At least there JA tries to highlight the most interesting features of the jitter spectrum for each component under review.
There is a little info at http://www.jitter.de But remember he's selling a jitter treatment device. A little skepticism is in order, but overall he's quite correct about jitter.
