Neotech 3001 vs Mogami 2534 Neutrik RCA vs Signal Cable Silver Resolution IC mini review

I recently bought a pair of Neotech 3001 IC (custom built with Jensen RCA ends) and I built some jumpers for my NAD amp using Duster’s formula (Neotech 22 AWG Teflon insulated UPOCC solid core single crystal copper wire terminated with 1877 Phono ZSP rca connectors with OCC single crystal copper center pin). This sounded so good I did not want to bother with other wire but I had some on order so I thought I would give them due diligence.

Mogami Quad 2534 Cable w/ Neutrik Gold ProFi RCA and jumper (as produced by Pro Audio LA): The Mogami is a very balanced sounding wire, there is nothing noticeably missing or added top to bottom. The image it throws has a nice proportion with nothing standing out good or bad. Bass definition is especially notable and is quite impressive. Tonal balance is good but with a degree of softness in the high end which obscured some detail. Overall I put the Mogami in the ‘neutral’ category, mostly not calling attention to itself and often bringing forth music in a beautiful fashion. Weather this quality came and went based on system synergy or recording quality I do not know but a very solid performer (especially for the money).

Signal Cable Silver Resolution IC: I first tried this with Mogami jumpers (I did not buy a Silver Resolution jumper because it would not be eligible for money back return). My first impression was of a big warm diffuse sound which tightened up a bit (after 3 straight days of play) but the basic sound remained. While euphonic at times it was also confused/blurry and bass sometimes sounded like hitting a pillow with a tennis racket (thud). I was surprised to hear such a warm sound and the huge forward image (compared to the other two cables). I threw in the UPOCC copper jumpers and the sound tightened up a bit, got a bit cleaner with more solid bass. Overall euphonic but soft.

Neotech 3001 with Jensen RCA and Neotech 22 AWG jumpers: The first thing I noticed is a return to amazing bass, the kind of bass that makes you aware as it emanates up from the ground giving a sense of the venue. This bass quality is even more defined than the Mogami with even a bit more punch. This is achieved without making piano (for instance) sound thick but instead the midrange has a direct clean quality with beautiful tone. I also find there to be chasms of air between instruments which helps clarify the presentation as a musical event. Some people find this cable to be a bit lacking in high end ‘air’ but I like the detail and presentation just fine. Overall the Neotech may have a bit too much bass but I am loving it’s sound.

I guess it is obvious I prefer the Neotech over the Magomi and Signal Cable. I just find myself listening to the music more. For as good as the Mogami is I found myself wondering what was going on sometimes because I did not hear clearly and the Signal Cable could be fun and euphonic but a bit of a mixed bag and lacked definition.

I hope you enjoyed my little review,

Happy Holidays!

Phil
