I have tried a variety of digital cables to go between a CEC1 and an Audio Note DAC 4.1. For quite a few years, I have used a single run of Audio Note UK Vx silver interconnect for that purpose. Then, I acquired, at Peter Qvortrup's suggestion, a single run of his Sogon interconnect with RCA terminations. My current run of Sogon between the CEC and the Dac 4.1 is the best digital cable that I have had.
To wit, the Sogon gave my CD head end a slightly fuller and mellower sound, quite a bit closer to what my LP head end yields. By mellower, I do not mean rolled off - I mean that in comparison to the AN Vx cable, the Sogon has a more realistic and transparent high end without a digital edge. My AN Vx had so satisfying an analog sound in comparison to other cables that I have used over many years, that I did not expect to find that the Sogon has even more of an analog sound, particularly in the HF. I recommend Sogon interconnect cable to the Forum for this use. However, I do not decry the sound quality of AN Vx at a much lower price. Had I not heard the Sogon in my system, I would have been perfectly satisfied.
Soon, I will have an Audio Note UK CDT3 and when I have broken it in I will post a comparison between it and the CEC1, that is now permanently "hors de combat".
I have posted a comparison between my former power cables and the new AN UK Sogon power cables and a comparison between my former AN Kondo gear, including an Ongaku and my present AN UK gear that replaced the Kondo gear. That comparison is in this Cable Forum as I started off with a piece about the AN UK power cables.
